Lost in time, like tears in rain-Rutger Hauer dies at 75

It is a sad day. One of the icons of my youth, Rutger Hauer died on July 19th at his home in the Netherlands.

Blade Runner and LadyHawke were both a huge part of 80s culture and Rutger’s on screen performances were always so deep and intense. His silence would grip you. I may have to do an illustration to honor this icon of my youth.

I am reminded of the end of Blade Runner when Roy speaks of the moments that will be lost in time,

“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.”

RIP Mr. Hauer
